How does it work?
Agion utilizes a breakthrough ion-exchange technology that activates silver/copper ions “on demand” in the presence of moisture – urine, blood, the settling of airborne bacteria, even the touch of a hand. It embeds silver and copper ions in a micron-sized “zeolite carrier.” The silver ions protect by disrupting cell metabolism, then inhibiting respiration and cell reproduction. Copper ions enhance this effect. The zeolite carriers are then encapsulated into our Eco Intelligent® Post-Consumer Recycled Polyester fibers.
This complex action makes Agion a strong antimicrobial – proven effective against a wide range of bacteria, mold, mildews and fungi. Unlike alternative antimicrobial approaches, Agion is built in to the “DNA” of the fabric to deliver long-lasting antimicrobial surface protection.

It is approved for food and water contact, cosmetics, and even “in-body” devices like catheters. Agion is registered for a broad range of uses with the EPA, FDA, USDA, European FSA and European BPD.
